And So It Begins . . .

This blog is my attempt to give back and make available some of the things I've learned and gathered in my time working with databases and the SQL Server BI stack. I've worked with dBASE, FoxPro, MS-Access, SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle.

My current job revolves around SQL Server and Oracle, but other databases and tools show up on a semi-regular basis.

I figure that for the inaugural post, I'll just include links to some of my favorite places for SQL Server info. When people start to get serious about SQL Server they usually ask, where to go for quality information. There is so much out there, and not all of it is correct, but I thought I'd list some of my favorite resources.

Go to sources for SQL Server questions:
SQL Server Central - Excellent articles, commentary, and forums. My favorite resource SQL Server information. Run by Red Gate software, registration required.

Simple Talk - Another Red Gate site. Lower quantity, but very high quality articles and scripts.

SQL Team - Good forum site with quite a number of useful articles

http://www.sqlmag.com/ - Online version of the print magazine. Articles by some of the top people in the SQL Server world.

MS SQLTips - Another excellent resource site.

BIDN - BI Development Network - Fairly new site devoted to BI on the Microsoft stack.

This is just scratching the surface of resources out on the internet, and it doesn't even begin to touch the many many excellent blogs by individual contributors, but it is a start.

If this post helps even one other person, I'll be thrilled.

Enjoy.
